Out of Print Clothing

Out of Print Clothing celebrates the world’s great stories through fashion. With each t-shirt featuring iconic and often out of print book covers. I'm loving the Lolita one!

Also for each shirt sold, they donate one book to a community in need through the Books For Africa program.

in the same space at the same time

A photo series by 16 year old Natalie Kucken, inspired by this quote from the book, The Lovely Bones.

and my father would take the thin cotton top sheet
and bunch it up in his hands while being careful to
keep the two corners between his thumb and forefinger.
then he would snap it out so the pale sheet would spread
out like a parachute above buckley and gently, what felt
wonderfully slowly, it would waft down and touch along
his exposed skin- his knees, his forearms, his cheeks and
chin. both air and cover somehow there in the same
space at the same time- it felt like the ultimate freedom
and protection.

-the lovely bones

PS > I'll be guest blogging at English Muse for my good friend Tina while she takes a break from the blog. So you can find me over there for the next few weeks as well as here.

little known lovelies award ~~ supporting new bloggers

Photograph by _cub

To share the blogging love, Eri of The Little Blog of Happiness has started an award called "little known lovelies". An award to shine the light on undiscovered blogs and new bloggers.

Remember when you were just getting started? I do, I think only 10 people read my blog for the first 6 months and now I'm so lucky to have such an amazing bunch of followers!! I seriously read each and every comment and feel so supported. So as a little way to say thanks and give back to this wonderful community I'll be posting the winners too, that way we can all share in the blog love. Nawwww hugs all round.

SO.....If you'd like to nominate a pretty blog you've come across, or maybe your own blog then head over to Eri's blog to see how.

The RULES: What is a little known lovely??? its a blog either started this year or with less then 20 followers.

PS. This photos is all kinds of wonderful !!

Hopelessly Devoted Photoshoot

Last weekend my brother and I met up with Gaby of Hopelessly Devoted and Marianne from Esme and the lane way to do a photo shoot for Gaby's new collection of accessories.

My brother did all the photography and Marianne was our gorgeous model. I kind of just hung around and took some lomo photos. It was my first time at a photo shoot and it was lots of fun!! We started out with some photos inside then went for a walk to the local gardens to shoot the rest. I've posted just a few from the day here, my favourite ones are still being edited but I couldn't resist posting these!

Well happy weekend! what's everyone's plans? I have an open house on both Saturday and Sunday because of my place being for sale. boo.

Polaroid Transfers ~ She Hit Pause Studio

A reader sent me the link to She Hit Pause Studio thinking I might like the Polaroid Transfers. And she was right, they are breathtakingly beautiful.

She Hit Pause Studios, was created by Matt Schwartz, a Brooklyn based photographer. Matt has been photographing his version of the pin-up girl for the past 10 years. His work has been described as "walking into a memory". And I can see why!

If you'd like to get one as a print or just browse all the photos you can here Shehitpausestudio.com

LomoAmigo it's here!!

I've been waiting for what feels like FOREVER to share this with you all. A while back I was asked by Lomography to be a LomoAmigo for the new Diana Mini camera (although not so new now) and I jumped at the chance.

As a LomoAmigo I was equipped with a Diana Mini and a whole bunch of film to go out and see what I could capture. I decided to take the camera to India with me and finally I can show you the results, there is also a few photos from Melbourne thrown in there too. So you can read the feature HERE ~ at the bottom of the article there's a little slideshow to click through all my photos. I hope you like them!!

I thought I would also take the time to share a few tips and things I've learned so far using the Diana Mini....maybe they will help if you're just starting out

Tips for using the Diana Mini
  • Ive found high speed film is the best to use with the Mini. So start with 400 or if its a nice sunny day try out 200iso.
  • Shooting in daylight gets the best results for standard 400iso film. Most of my indoor ones came out very fuzzy as there wasn't enough light, so I'm now trying out the flash and faster speed films for indoors - will let you know if this helps.
  • oh and check that the little switch is on "N" and not slipped over to "B" (unless of course you want the B setting) I wasted a whole roll of film with this switch wrong!!!
  • Winding the film on is definitely not exact, just wind till you feel it has tightened and hopefully your at the right spot!! if your not then you will get some nice double exposures anyways...and be careful not to wind too tight as that can break the film....made this mistake too.

If you have some of your own tips do share in the comments below.

bleubird meets yyellowbird

I did a little dance when I clicked over to Bleubird Vintage and saw that yyellowbird aka Cari Ann Wayman has done the photography for their latest lookbook.

If you haven't heard of Cari Ann Wayman shes another of these amazing young photographers who started out on flickr. Ahhh I love the online world, it makes it easier for such talented peps to get their work seen, meet with other creatives and make magical collaborations such as this happen.

PS. Checkout some of the great new vintage pieces just added to the Bleubird shop.

DACE Fall 2010 Mini Movie

I've included some screen grabs from the video as its been posted over at Lily and the Muse...if you love you can watch it here.

An update

photograph by iindigo

I've been helping Mila with an update of her blog Loveology...doesnt it look so pretty?! I'm feeling inspired to make some changes to my own blog but a bit stuck with whether to go back to a minimalist mainly white layout, or a more magazine style.

I took some photos with my Diana Mini on the weekend too, cant wait to get them developed! I promise I'll have a whole bunch of photos to share with you soon.
