The Waiting City - Interview and Giveaway

I was recently asked by Hopscotch Films if I would like to interview the director, Clarie McCarthy of upcoming Australian release The Waiting City. With the movie being filmed entirely in India and staring one of my favourite Aussie actors Isabel Lucas, I thought "yes, why not!".

Anyways here is a bit about the movie..the filming is visually stunning!

Directed by Australian rising talent Claire McCarthy, The Waiting City tells the story of an outwardly happy Australian couple who journey to India to collect their adopted baby. When they arrive in Kolkata they discover that the adoption arrangements have still to be finalised. Soon the intoxicating mystic power of the city pulls them in separate and unexpected directions and the vulnerability of their marriage begins to reveal itself. The first Australian feature film to be shot entirely in India, The Waiting City is an intimate, complex love story of transformation, set against the exhilarating epic backdrop of Kolkata, starring Radha Mitchell, Joel Edgerton and Isabel Lucas.

I'm really happy with how the interview has turned out, I hope you all enjoyed it. Thanks to Hopscotch for filming and editing!!

The Waiting City will be screening in Australian Cinemas from 15th July.

Winter Fairy Tale

winter fairy tale photos by loretoidas

I'm going to the snow on the weekend, I've only ever been to the snow twice in my life. One of those times I spent the day rolling down the mountain whilst trying to figure out skiing. So I'm a little anxious and excited at the same time. I've been looking through other peoples snow photos to get some inspiration and ideas. I'm hoping to take some nice pictures whilst I'm there. (I'm done with skiing, I'll leave that to the bf)

Any tips on taking pictures at the snow? Has anyone tried Lomo photography at the snow? I think the Diana Mini will be really hard to wind on wearing gloves, I have enough trouble winding it on without gloves!

hmm...

Happy Bloggy 3rd Birthday + other news

So last Friday was my blogs 3rd Birthday...and I forgot. I was planning to do something special like a giveaway or a summary of my blog, like favourite posts etc. But honestly lately I've been lacking motivation and worst of all I've been feeling little creativity. I don't think I can be a blogger who produces 3-5 posts a day continuously. It's not what my blog is about nor has ever been about....for me it has been a journey about finding myself again, finding what I love and what inspires me. About finding Daydream Lily the dreamer who got lost along the way. And I think (or hope) my blog reflects that.

The first year I was posting alot of crafts, art, illustration anything to spark my creativity..I was going to alot of exhibitions and crafty things to rediscover my love for art. The second year was "the divorce" not a real one but close enough - I ended an 8 year relationship. When I couldn't find the words to express what I was going through I used quotes and lyrics. They gave me strength. Like this post Question#11 - clearly I was feeling negative about relationships.

The third year has been about falling in love again...hence the ridiculous amount of dreamy imagery and romance going on here!! Now.... now I'm not sure, but there is another big life change coming up for me. In a month I'm packing up and leaving Melbourne. Remember this post about Love vs Career Love? Well I'm moving to the Gold Coast (Australia) for love. It's not the best decision career wise for me, but sometimes you just have to take a risk.

Well that's a really short simplified version of the last 3 years and the ups and downs. I'm putting my archives up if you'd like to look through them.

Thank you so much to those readers who have gone through the journey with me... I know a few of you have been reading from the very first posts. And thank you to all the new readers who joined in along the way.

...to many more years blogging.

PS. Feel free to share your blogging story, why did you start a blog? what hopes and dreams did you have for your blog?

dreamandawake vintage

photography by Ana Kras for dreamandawake

dreamandawake is a Swedish vintage shop stocking vintage dresses from around the world. The dresses are redesigned, refined and transformed into a new unique garment. Each dress is a forgotten beauty, standing strong and ready to find its new owner.

They also have an ongoing collaboration with RedCross in Sweden to refashion and produce eco-friendly dresses locally. Wow!

oh and if that's not enough ...they released a dreamandawake book featuring the dresses and photography by my favourite Swedish photographer Lina Scheynius. I think I'm going to have to get a copy!!

PS. this post turned out to be really long...

Don't make excuses.
Just get out there, and whatever you're doing, do it to the best of your ability.

I've been watching TED talks and these words from John Wooden were what I needed last night. If you can recommend any other TED talks do send them though, there's so many on the site I don't know where to start.
