Do Fun Stuff Vol.1

Remember the belly series? Well Ryan has amazed me again with his latest project - Do Fun Stuff - a compilation album to raise money for research into Smith Magenis Syndrome (SMS), a rare genetic disorder his step son LB was diagnosed with a year ago.

So Long I'm Six from The Panic Room Videos on Vimeo.

The album is a Kids album Parents will also enjoy. Featuring songs from a bunch of great indie artists, including a new favourite of mine Scampi (She is super cute, have you seen her songs on youtube?!). I also love the song Nothing by Steve Foxbury which is the backing track to the video posted above. Anyways, you can listen to a preview of the songs using the widget...

And if you'd like to help, you can buy a copy of the album on iTunes or make a donation via the widget. 100% of the proceeds will go to helping understand more about this rare genetic disorder.

PS> dofunstuff :)

PSS > read more about LB, SMS and how you can help on Ryan's blog Pacing the Panic Room.

The Road Trip

Here's some pictures of the road trip to Queensland. We spent three days on the road and travelled 1700 kilometres. Our stuff didn't arrive at our new place until late Tuesday night so we spent some time sitting on blankets in an empty house waiting. I'm still getting furniture for the new place as we got rid of most of the furniture we had before. I'm having trouble finding stuff I like though up here on the Gold Coast, as it seems that the retro/vintage type furniture I like isn't as easy to find as it was in Melbourne. If you know where I can find that type of stuff up here do tell! In particular I'd love a kitchen table and chairs like in this post.

Hope you are all having a lovely weekend!
x

PS. A big thank you to my guest bloggers who helped out during the big move.

Penelope Waits

One of my favourite ever pictures is this first image of the tea set collection by Essie of Penelope Waits. {discovered via Here Comes The Sun thanks Amanda!} I would love to have a shelf like this to display my growing collection of tea sets.

Melbourne based Essie also creates the sweetest embroidery kits featuring her own cross-stitch designs. Each kit contains a needle, aida cloth, embroidery floss, and the pattern itself. You can find them for sale in her Etsy shop.

Id love one of her 'tea and scandal' sets hanging on my wall!

Win a Panasonic Lumix G2

Sponsored by NuffNang

I was super excited when NuffNang told me about a new campaign with the latest Panasonic Lumix G2. I love cameras so thought it would be fun to take part, It also came at a good time for me, because I've set myself a goal to do more of my own photography for the blog. As part of the campaign a bunch of bloggers were sent the new Panasonic Lumix G2 to review. The camera arrived on a Friday and I was straight to trying it out at the markets on the Sunday.

The camera is somewhere between a Point-and-Shoot and an SLR, and very compact for its type. It has an intelligent auto Mode setting where the camera chooses all the best settings for you but you can also choose to shoot in full manual. I took these photos with the intelligent auto mode setting.

It also has a large LCD which is touch screen! I used the touch screen function alot to set the focus and exposure area I wanted, like in this photo on the front few teacups.

It comes in a standard pack (one lense 14-42mm) but you can also get the twin lense pack (45-200mm) which is a very powerful zoom lense for those that want it (RRP $1599). Very good value to get an additional 45-200mm lense.

You can choose from three different body colours (red, black and blue), which is cool not many others do. It also does HD movies!

Panasonic are also giving away a Lumix G2 Camera....
valued at $1299! The competition is being run across the participating blogs and one reader will win. To enter the competition and be in the running.... leave a comment here answering the question.

How would the Panasonic Lumix G2 make you a better photographer?

Don't forget to leave an email address so we can get in touch if you win.

The competition is only for Australian readers (sorry to my international, I promise to have a competition for you soon!) Full terms and conditions for the competition can be read at the NuffNang blog here.

Good Luck!

EDIT:
The competition closing date is Friday, 3 September at 11.59pm (AEST)

UPDATE: Winner has been announced on the NuffNang blog HERE...congrats to Hannah. So proud to have the winning entry here, you guys are the best!

Guest Post:: beautiful homes and interiors

Hello lovelies.

Let me introduce myself. I am Ilana from See Me Everywhere, a twenty two year old New Zealand girl that loves life, enjoys the moment and seeks to always be surrounded by other like-minded creative and passionate people. Feel free to drop by and say hi! I have the wonderful honour of inspiring you today while Liss is doing her grand move over to QLD.

At the moment, I am involved in opening a boutique jewellery, gifts & homeware store, so it is not going to come as a surprise that I have been consuming myself with beautiful homes and interiors lately. Although I love the beautiful ornaments and prints you can buy these days to decorate your little nook, I adore people that take the time and use their own initiative and creativity to hand-make pieces that fits perfectly with their own home and personality. That's why I thought today I would introduce you to Kristena Derrick, whose home is filled with all kinds of handmade wonders that makes her home magical.

Hope this will leave you inspired to get crafty. Feel free to pop down a link if you have handmade something yourself, as we would all love to see your handmade creations!

(Nick and Nessies)

Good morning lovelies, it's Amanda from Here Comes the Sun. I'm here to do a guest post today for Liss while she is occupied with the business of moving to a new city. Anyway it's good to be here and share a few things with you. Make sure you do come say hello over at my own little blog as well!

(Little Owlette)

If you follow my blog at all you might have noticed I have a wee love for all things owl-related! So you can imagine my joy when I discovered The Lovely Owls pool on flickr. A little wonderland of all things owlie!

(Living Room Shadows)

(Hold Your Breath)

(The Dainty Squid)

Ahh so much owlie cuteness! I love it!

Do you guys collect anything or is it just me? I'm bit of a nana sometimes and I love to fill my house with cute little ornaments and decorations.

Well thank you for having me here today
