I wanted to change the world. But I have found that the only thing one can be sure of changing is oneself.

Motivational thoughts-In spite of deprivations
If I am happy in spite of my deprivations,
if my happiness is so deep that it is a faith,
so thoughtful that it becomes a philosophy of life.
If, in short, I am an optimist,
my testimony to the creed of optimism is worth hearing.

None the Richer
None the Richer Stevie Queen jacket. Element Eden dress.
None the richer vanilla necklace and treasure jewellery box.
Last week I made some time to head down to Burliegh ( one of my favourite places on the coast ) and watch the sunset while also getting my bestie to take some photos of my gorgeous new None the Richer Jacket. I'm not much of a blazer person normally but this one I couldn't resist the lace back! It looks so pretty over dresses and been perfect to pair with my dresses for this in between weather.
Hope you all had a good weekend.

Thoughts-Old age
Old Age, I decided, is a gift!
I am now, probably for the first time in my life, the person I have always wanted to be. Oh, not my body! I sometime despair over my body - the wrinkles, the baggy eyes, and the sagging butt. And often I am taken aback by that old person that lives in my mirror, but I don't agonize over those things for long.
I would never trade my amazing friends, my wonderful life, my loving family for less gray hair or a flatter belly. As I've aged, I've become more kind to myself, and less critical of myself. I've become my own friend. I don't chide myself for eating that extra cookie, or for not making my bed, or for buying that silly cement gecko that I didn't need, but looks so avante-garde on my patio. I am entitled to overeat, to be messy, to be extravagant. I have seen too many dear friends leave this world too soon; before they understood the great freedom that comes with aging.
Whose business is it if I choose to read or play on the computer until 4 am, and sleep until noon? I will dance with myself to those wonderful tunes of the 60's, and if I, at the same time, wish to weep over a lost love .. I will I will walk the beach in a swim suit that is stretched over a bulging body, and will dive into the waves with abandon if I choose to, despite the pitying glances from the bikini set. They, too, will get old! I know I am sometimes forgetful. But there again, some of life is just as well forgotten, and I eventually remember the important things.
Sure, over the years my heart has been broken. How can your heart not break when you lose a loved one, or when a child suffers, or even when a beloved pet gets hit by a car? But broken hearts are what give us strength and understanding and compassion. A heart never broken is pristine and sterile and will never know the joy of being imperfect.
I am so blessed to have lived long enough to have my hair turn gray, and to have my youthful laughs be forever etched into deep grooves on my face. So many have never laughed, and so many have died before their hair could turn silver. I can say "no," and mean it. I can say "yes," and mean it As you get older, it is easier to be positive. You care less about what other people think. I don't question myself anymore. I've even earned the right to be wrong.
So, to answer your question, I like being old. It has set me free. I like the person I have become. I am not going to live forever, but while I am still here, I will not waste time lamenting what could have been, or worrying about what will be. And I shall eat dessert every single day Today, I wish you a day of ordinary miracles.

TONI&GUY Blogged and Bound
My mini film for the Toni & Guy Blogged and Bound is finally here!
...
TONI&GUY Blogged and Bound partnered with 20 of Australia's most influential fashion bloggers to explore how hair meets wardrobe. The project includes a 100-page book profiling each of the bloggers. Each blogger also stars in their very own short film in which they discuss their style inspiration and the role that hair plays in their overall look.
....

I've sat here awhile not knowing what to write or tell you about this project. It has been one of the funnest projects to work on, with the best team of people and is easily up there with my three favourite things I've ever done through blogging (the others being my Element collections and being in Frankie Magazine). It always amazes me what blogging can bring and expose you to. I feel like I get to live in two parallel worlds. I'm so so happy with how its all come together, I must admit I was very nervous at first to hear myself on film! First time I watched it on mute.
You can follow the films on the harimeetwardrobe youtube feed, facebook or read the blogger profiles here.

Semi Permanent Conference Sydney

Bec's artwork on the Drawing Arm flyers ~ Bec speaking ~ Sunday brunch at The Rocks, Sydney + my Element Eden x Daydream Lily holga ~ Artwork by Emma White @ Museum of Contemporary Art ~ Town Hall ~ Sun setting on the Opera House
~ My sisters amazing time-lapse video she ended her presentation with. ~
A few weekends ago I went to Sydney with my sister and brother to the Semi Permanent Conference as my sister was an invited speaker!! It is such an honour to be invited to speak at this conference and to be seen up there among world class artists, designers and photographers. I can remember Bec first submitting work to the Semi-P book when she was still a graphic design student and I don't think she ever imagined she would one day be the up on stage presenting.
Some of the other amazing speakers included Roman Coppola (brother of Sofia Coppola), Benja Harney a paper engineer, who you would recognise from doing the recent set of MBFWA Romance Was Born popup!!! And Derek Henderson whos photography is in basically every fashion magazine you open. Just after the conference I bought Harpers Bazaar flicked it open and saw Derek's work staring out at me.
Also Bec Parsons who is a regular photographer for Russh, Oyster, Sportsgirl to name a few... and has her own amazing Fashion photography book called Love Want (more about that in another post).

Famous people quotes-Something to learn from Bill Gates
Lessons to learn from Bill Gates

Bill Gates recently gave a speech at a High School about 11 things they did not & will not learn in school. He spoke about how feel-good, politically correct teachings created a generation of kids with no concept of reality & how this concept set them up for failure in the real world.
Rule 1 : Life is not fair - get used to it!
Rule 2: The world won't care about your self-esteem. The world will expect you to accomplish something BEFORE you feel good about yourself.
Rule 3: You will NOT make $60,000 a year right out of high school. You won't be a vice-president with a car phone until you earn both.
Rule 4: If you think your teacher is tough, wait till you get a boss.
Rule 5: Flipping burgers is not beneath your dignity. Your Grandparents had a different word for burger flipping: they called it opportunity.
Rule 6: If you mess up, it's not your parents' fault, so don't whine about your mistakes, learn from them.
Rule 7: Before you were born, your parents weren't as boring as they are now. They got that way from paying your bills, cleaning your clothes and listening to you talk about how cool you thought you were. So before you save the rain forest from the parasites of your parent's generation, try delousing the closet in your own room.
Rule 8: Your school may have done away with winners and losers, but life HAS NOT. In some schools, they have abolished failing grades and they'll give you as MANY TIMES as you want to get the right answer. This doesn't bear the slightest resemblance to ANYTHING in real life.
Rule 9: Life is not divided into semesters. You don't get summers off and very few employers are interested in helping you FIND YOURSELF. Do that on your own time.
Rule 10: Television is NOT real life. In real life people actually have to leave the coffee shop and go to jobs.
Rule 11: Be nice to nerds. Chances are you'll end up working for one.

Jay Leno's quotes on Gay marriage
President Obama officially announced he is in favor of gay marriage. Of course, this is a monumental event. This is the first time Joe Biden said something Obama didn't have to apologize for.
The women know what this means. Now all the good ones will be married AND gay.
You know who is really against the president's position on gay marriage? Gay men afraid of commitment. Now they have no excuse.
My position is simple. I support any wedding I don't have to go to.
